For the triathletes and just those interested in my workouts

Okay, I've finally settled in at a little bar, have a Corona in hand, and am watching Monday night football at 3:00 in the afternoon.
I wanted to take a moment to recap my workouts so far this week.
On Saturday, about 10 minutes after getting to my hotel room, I headed out on a 12 mile run. I started out by running .8 miles down Alii drive to the start line. I had to stop and pause. This is it! This is where the start and finish of the worlds longest one day endurance event happens. This is where 1600 of the worlds most fit athletes will come to decide who is the "Ironman". The feeling that comes over a triathlete at this particular place is indescribable.
I continued my run up to the Queen K hwy and headed out on the course. This was a fun run as I was running the same course that the likes of Craig Alexander and Chris Lietto have run. I'm not sure I stopped smiling during my entire run.
On Sunday, I started out the day by meeting a couple of guys at the swim start at 7:20 am. We swam out to the 1000 yard buoy and back. It was a nice swim, but man it's hard to deal with the taste of that salt water in the back of your throat.
I waited for coach Brian to get our of his seminars that day and then we headed out to pick up his bike. Once we had his bike, we headed out for the ride I requested. This was a mental ride for me that I wanted to accomplish before the race. We drove to the turnaround, nearly 56 miles from Kona to the little town of Hawi. We arrived at about 3:30pm. We headed out and rode 25.5 miles towards Kona and turned around and rode back. 6 miles into the ride, we were averaging 28mph. 25 miles into the ride, we were averaging 21mph. we finsihed at an average of 17mph. The ride to Hawi was a killer for sure, but not as bad as I thought. There were times where we were going down hill and pedalling hard only to achieve a speed of 12mph. The winds were strong. Very strong. I got a flat on my front wheel just 6 miles from town with the sun quickly setting. We changed the tube in less than 6 minutes and were back on route with the sun halfway below the oceon and 6 miles of all uphill to go. Needless to say, it was dark by the time I got back to Hawi. Very dark, but we made it.
We ended it with the most incredible dinner at Sushi Rock in Hawi. I think we spent 2 hours there enjoying our food and the the town.
It really doesn't get much better than this...
